Instituted a week long class on basic industrial engineering concepts for operators and technicians at the M&M/MARS Waco site.  Courework covered efficiency calculations, determing cost effective solutions to floor issues, costing out waste, determing labor costs, and ROI analysis on capital purchases.   Course eventually taught at sites within MARS Inc.  as far as Beijing, China and Stupino, Russia.

 

Simulation Modelling            October-November 1995                                                       M&M/MARS, Inc

Provided an instruction course and a published  paper to the American Society of Agricultural Engineers FPAC IV Conference in Chicago, Illinois.  Utilized AT&T’s WITNESS Simulation program.   Provided a simulated computer model of a STARBURST Fruit Chews operating line and various effects that would occur on the line with additional packaging and process equipment additions.

Manage two shift production operations with focus on production, cost control, budgeting, sanitation, safety, and quality control. Possess SQF Level 2 Practitioner Certification and HACCP Certification.  Monitor and implement Sanitation program for the entire site.  Integrated new standup bagger line at site for successful Wal-Mart promotion entry.

 

Apply lean methodology to direction of 200 staff and 5 Supervisors and one manager. Train Supervisors in staff evaluations, communications, and crisis management. Provide resolutions to wide-ranging staff and production issues, and ensure seamless transitions to day-shift operations.

Manage night-shift operations for largest company production site in North America. Realized outstanding management of operations focused on lean production of Snickers candy bar line to include oversight of 3 major automated production lines and production team of 60. Applied comprehensive knowledge of company operations from previous position as Site Industrial Engineer to development of production solutions for niche items.

 

 

Site Industrial Engineer/Continuous Improvement Manager    (19922004)

Act as lean management specialist to include supervision of MRP Department with annual sales in excess of $1B.

Establish production rates and labor levels, and optimize performance through project justifications, capacity planning, variance analysis, asset management, new product introductions, and pricing analysis. Conduct Kaizen events as project manager to streamline plant operations, and developed production methods to meet niche demands. Participated in implementation of ISO 9000 and AIB guidelines. Implement new SAP program into plant operations.  Change Management director for the site.

Manage site financial planning and cost accounting to include direction of Capital Spending Department, Accounting Department, and control of annual budget of $89M.  Develop all item cost standards for the site.
